TANGLED EVER AFTER + TALE AS OLD AS TIME

One of my favorite movies, Beauty & the Beast, will grace the big screen once again - but this time in 3D - for a limited engagement starting this weekend!

And I'm very excited that our new Tangled short, Tangled Ever After, will play before it! Here's a clip with my shot of Rapunzel and the King walking down the aisle:

Today was Walt Disney's 110th birthday, and a wonderful day for us at his studio. Congratulations to my friends and co-workers who became Annie Award nominees this morning for their work on Prep & Landing: Naughty Vs. Nice, Winnie the Pooh, and The Ballad of Nessie. And a special Jimmy Fallon-style shout out to Minkyu Lee for his nominated short Adam and Dog. It's a joy to work with you all at Disney's :o)

PREP & LANDING: NAUGHTY VS. NICE

It's that time of the year again! Disney Animation Studios' newest Prep & Landing episode, Naughty vs. Nice, premieres on ABC this Monday, December 5th at 8:30/7:30c. Here's a promo with a few short clips I animated of Lanny (Derek Richardson), Wayne (Dave Foley), and Carol (Grace Potter):

The original Prep & Landing special is now available on DVD, along with the "stocking stuffer" Operation Secret Santa short I worked on from last year.

And if you happen to find yourself at the Disneyland Resort over the holiday season, be sure to head over to Disney's California Adventure for World of Color with a special appearance from Lanny & Wayne. (My advice is to avoid the crowds and enjoy the World of Color dining with reserved viewing.)

There's new animation created just for this show, and it was a thrill for me to help animate something for the parks! My thanks to Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers for making more dreams come true :o)

WINNIE THE POOH

It's been over 30 years since we've seen a new adventure with Winnie the Pooh from Disney Animation. If you love hand drawn animation, please go see this movie at a theater near you!

BRIAN MCDONALD ON STORY

Here's an interview with one of the best animation teachers I've ever had, and he's not even an animator. Brian has taught me so much about observation and clarity - it has changed the way I approach my scenes, and showed me that animators are storytellers too.

Brian has lectured at both Disney and Pixar, and I only wish he were down in LA more often so we could benefit from his wisdom on a regular basis. Check out his books Invisible Ink and The Golden Theme, as well as his Invisible Ink blog.

Also, for those of you near San Diego, he will be speaking at a TR!CKSTER Symposium on July 22nd.

THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

First off, huge thanks to those of you who went to see TANGLED over these past two weeks!!! Back at the studio we are all very excited by the awesome opening weekend box office, not to mention becoming #1 this week! I certainly had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
And now, just in time for Christmas, there is a *brand new* PREP & LANDING "stocking stuffer" short called OPERATION SECRET SANTA, on which I had the pleasure of animating. The short airs TONIGHT (Dec. 7th) on ABC following A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. Also, the original (and Emmy-award winning *grin*) PREP & LANDING will re-air on ABC this Thursday night (Dec. 9th). Be sure to check them both out!

CTN EXPO

Looking forward to attending the CTN EXPO these next few days! It was an honor to be a part of it last year at the Animation Mentor Panel. Both Animation Mentor and Disney have some great events planned. Be sure to catch a screening of Dean Wellin's short TICK TOCK TALE on Friday evening.

Also, TANGLED's Animation Supervisors John Kahrs and Clay Kaytis will be a part of the "Untangling the Look of Tangled" talk on Sunday.

Rumor has it, Disney will also be screening TANGLED on the Disney studio lot for CTN attendees!

MENKEN MUSIC

The incomparable Alan Menken was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last Wednesday. Being the devoted Disney/Menken fan that I am, I *had* to attend of course!
Mr. Menken was kind enough to sign my sheet music from the TANGLED duet I See the Light, which I will be framing :o) Huge thanks to John Kahrs and the directors for letting me animate Rapunzel singing part of this song - my life is complete. Here's a video of the ceremony (including a Disney Legend guest speaker, Richard Sherman):

Also, a moment I have long awaited: the TANGLED Soundtrack is now available for download at Amazon for only $3.99! The score is gorgeous, and the songs are classic Menken. The soundtrack even includes some deleted and extended bits! So, buy it now, memorize it this week, and sing-a-long in the theater on November 24th. That's my plan.

Just finished animating my final shot on TANGLED. Part of me wishes it would never end (the part of me that doesn't require sleep ;o) I love this movie! This was a dream project in every way, and will be a hard one to top. I am still pinching myself that I got be a part of it all and work with such a talented crew. To say I learned a lot is an understatement - I owe a huge amount of thanks to these people:

I finally joined the bandwagon and setup a blog. Although, I can't imagine that my musing would merit publishing. Therefore, I plan to use this blog as mostly a place to post my online demo reel, works-in-progress, and updates on projects at work. Occasionally, you may also find postings of random things that have inspired me.

This month, I graduated from Animation Mentor (most amazing online school ever!). Thanks to all my mentors and fellow students for teaching and encouraging me through those crazy 18 months. I loved every minute of it.

Oh, and despite the rumors, my profile pic is NOT the Little Mermaid. Let's leave the source unnamed and test your 2d trivia ;o)

Anyway, I appreciate the fact that you've taken the time to stop by here, and I would appreciate it even more if you cared to leave a critique or comment :o) Thank you!
